I realize it’s hard to find some motivation in Cleveland these days. The Indians just lost, you’re living in Cleveland, and the team you play for hasn’t made a dent in the win column yet. It’s a tough go for Browns players. Still, I’m not sure Chris Kirskey promising that the Browns will win at least one game is the proper narrative for a winless squad.
The best part of this is that it wasn’t prompted. It’d be different if some beat guy asked “do you think you’ll go 0-16?” and Kirskey responded with “no, asshole, we’re not going 0-16.” But no one asked him that. He also predicted before last week’s game that they would go 8-0 the rest of the way. Bold move, but why completely flip the script on your first prediction? The difference between 8-0 and 7-1 isn’t that big. Hell, he could just back up and say the undefeated streak starts now. He could say that literally forever if he wanted. Instead, he dramatically shifted the season goal to basically “we’ll back into one eventually.”
The dark days in the Dawg Pound continue.
