Last night Bruce Levine tweeted that the White Sox will sign Geovany Soto to a minor league deal:
Source tells me Catcher Geo Soto returning to White Sox on minor league deal . He has great shot once 40 man gets straight

As he stated in his tweet, Geo probably has a decent shot to make the roster in the spring considering the White Sox current catching situation. In reality, they’re basically doing this to get another warm body behind that plate. On the extremely off-chance Geo actually shows some value, the Sox can ship him at the trade deadline to a contender who needs catching depth.
Soto, now 34, has had two stops already in Chicago with both the Sox and the Cubs. He actually had a decent slash line last year of .269/.321/.487 before landing on the DL with knee issues. Not encouraging considering once a catcher starts having knee problems they never go away.
