It’s not surprising that a team would DFA a hitter who batted .191 with 12 home runs and 24 RBIs in 62 games last season for a pitcher, Matt Belisle, who posted a career-best 1.76 ERA last season for the Nationals.
What is surprising is the name, Byung Ho Park. You remember Park, don’t you? The Twins won a bidding war for the Korean monster who hit .343/.436/.714 with 53 home runs and 146 RBIs in 140 games for the Korea Baseball Organization’s Nexen Heroes before signing with Minnesota.
Park’s four year contract worth $12MM is partially guaranteed for over $9MM, so he’ll likely clear waivers considering a team won’t want to take on that money.
