Finally…The Simpsons are Going to the Hall of Fame

It only took 25 years, but one of the best episodes from possibly the greatest shows ever will finally get the honor it deserves.

The Baseball Hall of Fame will honor “Homer at the Bat”, an episode of the Simpsons that depicts Homer and his power plant buddies starting a softball team. Through the magic of Wonder Bat, Homer his titanic dingers every game, leading their team to the championship game. Seeing the success, Mr. Burns brings in ringers to assure a victory over a competing power plant.

Those ringers, Roger Clemens, Wade Boggs, Ken Griffey, Jr., Steve Sax, Ozzie Smith, José Canseco, Don Mattingly, Darryl Strawberry and Mike Scioscia, all played themselves in the episodes. Here is where I would insert a joke about this being the only way steroid users Roger Clemens and Jose Canseco are going to get into the Hall of Fame if I was less creative.

Instead, I’ll just reminisce about the part where Homer hits a home run and the video is slowed down to show his blubber flopping about. God I love that show. Now I’ll have to binge watch it. Thanks FX Now.
