I consider myself a bit of a connoisseur when it comes to home run celebrations. I’m here to judge all bat flips, bat drops, and home run trots. I hated Sammy Sosa, but can’t say his home run hop wasn’t one of the coolest things that steroids provided in the 90s.
Roughned Odor hit another dinger last night, but that’s not important. What’s important is what follows: a sneaky good home run celebration. First, it’s critical for any player’s home run celebration to be uniform every time he gets one on the barrel. Odor has that, as he simply drops his bat and puts his head down like a boss.
Why do I like this? It’s simple, yet still lets everyone in the stadium know that this is just another day at the park for Odor. It’s as close to a mic drop as I’ve seen for a home run celebration. I think the fact that the bat is almost as big as Odor himself adds a little spice to it as well.
Well done, Roughned.
