Collisions are the worst. And sometimes they’re unavoidable even though the broadcaster will give the standard dickhead line of “see kids, that’s why you always need to call the ball.” Sometimes the ball is hit in a place that no one knows if they can get to so they don’t communicate until the very last moment, hence collisions.
Javy Baez escaped this without major injury, only a bruise over his left eye. But I’m sure Cubs fans had flashbacks of Kyle Schwarber exploding his knee in left field at the beginning of the 2016 season. Not that it mattered to the success of their season. If Baez would’ve been seriously injured Jason Heyward would’ve been traded immediately for his own safety.
